Cute as a button. (or an earring).

I finally bought a hot glue gun, much needed to make these simple button (and penny) earrings.
Short Story- My Papa and Grams ran a wooden toy business and sold them at farmers' markets, for a brief while they sold button earrings attached to their business cards. Quite a few summers ago when I was helping Grams clean the garage we came across an entire bin full of odd-shaped, a variety of colors and sizes, of button earrings. I proudly wore them and went through a lot of pairs (I would lose some or some would break...) and gave a lot as gifts. Buttons were my signature.

Fashion can be about tradition and family. Both influence fashion and both influence our daily lives. I have a chance to continue creating something I loved that my Papa and Grams started; fashion can be a statement, even on your ears. :)

Dark at 5 PM.

Boyfriend's tee, scarf, flat ankle sm boots, (lazy day attire fit for a day off...)
On my way back from the store, threw on my boyfriend's tee (one of the best parts about living with a boyfriend, you gain access to anything that might look  better on you when over sized and accessorized...), and trotted around Sunset Park's wet walking ways after a brief rainfall. I love this time of year, and although the pic doesn't show up as well I love throwing thins together to create one comfy look that satisfies my laid back day's request.

Happy.

Forever Long Ribbed Tank Dress, Steve Madden Staff "Happy" Tee, H&M striped duster sweater, boyfriend's beanie, Steve Madden "Troopa"
Love our over sized Steve Madden staff tees we're instructed to wear on important days. Seen on days such as black Friday, during shoe week, or other days of importance and frenzy. The challenge is to not travel down the traditional route so familiar (t-shirt and jeans and call it a day). Add glitter, accessories, different bottoms, personal style, bow ties, just stand out.
The message is simple and clear. The message is what fashion does to mean, how fashion creates me. A challenge, an opportunity, a chance to be different are all parts of my style and all influence my status of happieness.
be happy.

Waking up late can sometimes work out.

I woke up ten minutes after I needed to leave my apartment this morning. Living in Brooklyn is not to bad of a commute but involves going over the bridge until you get to the city where whatever train you take either chooses to inch along the streets or avenues or graciously happens to be going express. I feel like I often wake up late and as much as I hate starting my day off badly I know for me it always helps to plan things out, especially my outfits. This outfit here, I didn't try on to make sure it would fit I just had thought about it the night before on the train ride home. Luckily it didn't need much work to put together in my scurrying around trying to get my act together. To me it is easy to pair a great vintage band tee with a fun and colorful print on the bottom. The risk was taken when I chose to add the red buffalo plaid jacket on top, but it seemed to work out, grabbing attention to the shades of red in my paisley adorned skirt. I sure am tired though, and I know for a fact I function better with time enough to eat breakfast.
Setting my alarm and placing it across the room, forcing me to physically get up to turn the annoying rooster alarm.
